Entertaining afternoon in the Liberties, Ireland's historic textile hub. Exhibition, demonstration, talk, short film and chat.
This is a chance to explore the roots of Irish textiles, from the historic to the present day practise. Come and watch the demonstrations, chat to weavers, see historic pieces and relax with fellow textile enthusiasts and lovers of heritage.
-Demonstrations from the Liberties Weavers who promote the 1000 year old tradition of weaving craft and industry in the Liberties area.
-The book launch of 'Irish Tweed' (Vawn Corrigan, O'Brien Press) and a slide show by the author of fascinating historic images.
-Screening of 'Timelines on the Edge' (short film about the collaboration between ten weavers to make a 2mx2m tapestry) and Q & A with Terry Dunne
-Lacemaking and Aran knitting demos (Pauline Gallagher of The Knitting Class).
-Vintage tweed samples and stories from the Weavers Shed, Kilmainham by John O'Loughlin Kennedy
-An exhibition of beautiful and historic textile pieces and much more!
