The Darlie Routier Case: A Texas Mystery That Still Divides the Public
The 1996 murders of Devon and Damon Routier remain one of Texas’ most polarizing true‑crime cases. It's a story where grief, forensic puzzles, and media spectacle collided in a way the state had never seen. In the early hours of June 6, 1996, 26‑year‑old mother Darlie Routier called 911 from her Rowlett home, screaming that an intruder had stabbed her and her two young sons. When police arrived, Devon was already gone, and Damon died en route to the hospital. Darlie—bloodied, injured, and frantic—insisted a stranger had fled through the garage. But within days, suspicion shifted from an unknown assailant to the mother herself.
For this Texas Justice Tour stop, award‑winning investigative journalist Claire St. Amant will be joined by veteran journalist Pat Springer to revisit the case.
