About this Event
Islands and lakes are lenses that reveal patterns, of how we live and our environmental limits. They provide succinct means to explore the interaction and co-dependency between human and natural life.
Developed within the AHRC funded Future Island-Island project Terraqueous uses impactful, sophisticated drawing and media to explore ‘ownership’; ground, water, flooding, biodiversity, risk aversion, industry and pollution, as territories for new forms of architecture and to locate the utopian oasis of Rathlinneagh.
Innovative design approaches visualise interacting phenomena, criteria and human and natural actors that determine co-existence, ecosystems, sociotechnical connections, networks and flows. We propose infrastuctures and space that question the idea of architecture=building and landscape=nature as the basis for designing island’s environmental futures.
