We are delighted to announce that we are offering a FREE in person Supervisory and Management Development Workshop with AKU Training, on Tuesday 17th February from 9.30am - 4pm. This is FREE for Belfast One BID Businesses only.
People management is often viewed as a secondary task to the day-to-day responsibilities of a manager or supervisor — especially in today’s world, where many are navigating the additional challenge of managing teams remotely.
This course is designed to shift that perspective by inspiring managers to recognise the crucial role that effective people management plays in organisational success. Whether you lead a single team member or an entire department, your skills, mindset, and approach can have a powerful and lasting impact. It's about engaging both the hearts and minds of your people — and understanding the true value of leading well.
What will I learn?
This course will help you to understand what management is, and what it isn’t; how to transition into becoming a manager building your confidence to step up to the role of manager (in their absence); and how to overcome some of the hurdles that supervisory roles present. You will explore what strengths you already bring to the role, identify areas to work on and explore the tools to help you do this.
Most importantly, you will learn how to create an environment where people feel supported and valued. By the end of the training you will be able to:
• Recognise the difference between management and leadership
• Understand the principal roles and responsibilities of an effective manager
• Identify your personal management style and adapt your style to support others
• Apply goals and prioritise effectively to meet departmental outcomes
