OVA Walk - The Templar Way (part 4)

The entrance to the Park is off the A382 Bovey Tracey to Newton Abbot road 300m south of the Drumbridges roundabout on the A38 Exeter to Plymouth Expressway. The car park charge is £4 for longer than 2 hours, so try and car share if you can.
This leg of our walk follows the Heritage Trail south through Stover Country Park and then explores the River Teign and Stover Canal before heading back to our start point. By now the Tramway is left behind, with the granite loads being moved on by canal. In addition to the historical interest, if we are lucky there should be plenty to tempt the wildlife enthusiast with a variety of wildfowl at Stover Lake and the River Teign.
Depending on the conditions of the path(s) alongside the canal, we may have to cut the walk short at the bridge over the canal on Exeter Road by MT Tums.
Bring a flask for a coffee stop and a picnic lunch - alternatively, you can get refreshments at MT Tums cafe.
If there is interest, we can arrange a guided tour of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Teigngrace including memorials to the Stover family, old documents, maps. etc
Please book with the Walk Leaders, in case we need to cancel due to bad weather etc. We may also be able to help with sorting out lifts. Any time up to 8am on the day of the walk is fine.
Walk Leaders: Penny and Paul Kurowski, 01395 742942, 07792 619748 [email protected]
Note: “The Templer Way part 5 – from Newton Abbott to Teignmouth” will be in the May - July Walk Programme.
If you have never been on an OVA walk before, please do contact the walk leader to chat about the walk and what you can expect (contact details on the OVA website). This also helps us manage numbers. Everyone is welcome.
