About this Event
In Ter Apel, KLABU has been operating a clubhouse since 2022, which hosts sports activities for unaccompanied minors who are seeking asylum in the Netherlands. Our event on March 12th is a moment to honour the clubhouse and its members, who have embodied the 'unbeatable spirit' since day one by playing, connecting and creating new friendships on and off the pitch.
We’ll be diving deeper into the lived situation of these young people through a guided conversation with Naya al Hosein (Youth ambassador for Save the Children) and Ilse van Liempt (Professor of Migration Studies at Utrecht University), during which we will explore how to create a society in which every young person in the Netherlands feels at home.
Afterwards, we'll host a reception where you can admire artworks created by unaccompanied minors from Ter Apel in collaboration with de Vrolijkheid and get your hands on our new Ter Apel Spirit jersey, a special collaboration with young artist Alf Bärbel Wit Peters.
Throughout the reception, we will be listening to tunes by DJ Estelliciousz and enjoying drinks & bites supplied by Gulpener, Innocent and Hummus & Habibis.
Doors open at 18.00 and the panel talk will take place between 18.30 and 19:00. Spots are limited so RSVP today and join the KLABU!

'Feel at Home' guided discussion
Info: Home isn’t always a place; sometimes, it’s a person, a memory, or a shared ritual. KLABU hosts a panel discussion with Naya al Hosein and Ilse van Liempt to explore the architecture of belonging. How do we rebuild after the loss of a 'first' home? Can community help us feel rooted again, and is it possible to find home in multiple places at once? And what can we all do to support others in building a home?
Note: doors will be closed during this time to respect the speakers.
