About this Event
JOIN MERCY FOR ANIMALS VOLUNTEERS AT THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO TO DEMAND THAT COMPASS GROUP USA STOP SOURCING FRANKENCHICKENS!
Compass is the largest foodservice provider in the United States. They supply companies, universities, and venues across the country with birds that have been bred to suffer as they grow unnaturally large and abnormally fast. Compass Group failed to meet their original 2024 deadline to ban Frankenchickens and then published an incremental roadmap detailing a new timeline. Despite claiming to be in conversation with suppliers, the company has yet to secure and publicize partnerships with producers specifically for sourcing chicken meat from higher-welfare breeds—a vital step for executing their plan.
This protest will take place on Sunday, March 1 at 1pm outside of the Art Institute of Chicago, a client of Compass Group. At 2pm, directly after the event, volunteers will walk to the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel at 221 N Columbus Dr for a second protest to support a The Humane League cage-free campaign against Choice Hotels (read more here: https://thehumaneleague.org/article/choice-hotels-protest)
