About this Event
Technica 4 Convention: Circularity!
The TECHNICA convention is a full-day event, exploring ways to advance teaching and research of the technologies subject in Architecture.
The event aims to bring together all the Technology Leads from Schools of Architecture in the UK to discuss current and future challenges related to Technologies teaching and propose strategies to continuously improve our practice.
The event is composed of seminars and workshop sessions, creating opportunities for academics to share experience on developing strategic approaches to curriculum development and innovative teaching practices across different themes.
This year we invite you to present Reflective Papers on the following themes:
- Adaptation and evolution of teaching practices within the context of integration of Adaptive Re-Use, Material Innovation and Circular Design
- Architecture that can harm - Fire and Life Safety teaching strategies
- Digital and AI skills in the context of architectural technology education
- Challenges and opportunities for bridging practice and research with education initiatives involving the Technologies subject
- Challenges and opportunities for the Technologies subjects within the prospect of the ARB 2027 Framework
The seminar sessions will be structured around examples of strategic revisions and interventions at a programme level, and examples of tactical pedagogical interventions (e.g.: workshop activity, task – problem solving task, etc.).
Presenting at TECHNICA
Participants that are interested in presenting at the seminar sessions should submit a 500-word abstract, containing a general description of the teaching practice they want to showcase, in terms of scope, rationale, extent and observed results.
If you would like to show case a specific tactical pedagogical intervention (e.g.: workshop activity), the description should emphasize its place in the architecture curriculum, aims (i.e. learning outcomes), methodology, supportive infrastructure and results (e.g. discussing current challenges and future opportunities).
Abstracts (500 words) should be submitted via the link below:
