Tech(ish) Queer Women & Friends

<h4>Come join us for a fun and casual evening filled with tech talk, networking, and connections!</h4><h4>We'll be hosted by the brilliant team at BNY Mellon in their central London office.</h4>

Whether you're a seasoned techie or just tech(ish), this event is for all queer women and their friends interested in the tech industry. Connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences and insights, and build a strong community in the tech world. Let's geek out together!

We are planning Intriguing talks and lots of time for conversation.

Our goal is to facilitate the conversation between people who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible, people who are starting their exploration into the field and people who are not in tech but are wondering how it will affect them.

Your Organisers

Kat McGurk, after a career in tech driven roles, she's now leading on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the global gaming sector. She is a Scotland Rugby fan and a cynical optimist believing one day that they will win the world cup but knowing it will likely never happen.

Melissa Sabella, founder and CEO of The Honeycomb Works, a tech start up working to build inclusive and innovative workplace cultures. Her expertise is in product, innovation and transformation and she spent a lot of time driving change in big global organisations. She's an American living in London, a recovering intrapreneur and a baseball fan.

About the group

Tech(ish)

You don't have to be an engineer, in fact you don't even have to be working in tech - just be interested in it as a potential career, its impact on society, or just want to learn about what is happening and how it might impact you.

Queer

We wanted to include the entire spectrum of our community by using the most inclusive possible term. We understand that this has been used as a slur but our goal is to reclaim it and neutralise its use against us by embracing the unique perspective and joy we bring to the world.

Women

You may have been to a 'gay in tech' event where the majority are gay men. While we love and support these communities, there are too few places where Techish Queer Women are centred.

And we wish it didn’t have to be said but Trans Women are Women. If you don’t agree with that simple statement of fact, please do not think you are welcome in this community.

And Friends

If you care about us, you are welcome. If you find yourself at a loss in other communities because you are also a minoritised gender, we will go out of our way to welcome you without disrespecting you by categorising you as a woman variation - trans men are welcomed as men, non-binary folks are welcomed as non-binary folks.
