🌟BIG CHANGES for our 5th Annual Fort Mac Strong Brain Tumour Walk, and they're all for the better!🌟 After four incredible years outdoors (and raising over $3,300 last year, our best yet!), we're thrilled to announce a major upgrade for 2026: We're moving INDOORS to the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre (Fieldhouse #3) at Keyano College!
No more worrying about rain, heat, or wildfire smoke affecting our health or turnout. This climate-controlled, accessible venue means everyone can join comfortably. Especially those with mobility challenges. This is a FREE event for ALL!🥳
What to expect on Saturday, June 6th, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM:
• Walk (or roll!) the indoor track at your own pace. Stop anytime, rest, or sit (plenty of chairs available, no need to walk the full loop!).
• Educational stations will be set up around the fieldhouse court as you walk: Learn about brain tumours; what they are, causes, who they affect, treatment options, and how to support loved ones, friends, coworkers, or family members living with them.
• Connect with survivors, caregivers, fellow warriors, and community members. Share your story, honour those we've lost, or walk in memory/honour of someone special.
• Play areas in the centre court for kids of all ages (All ages welcome!).
• Snacks, light refreshments, prizes, artwork, gift basket raffles, and more fun surprises!
● Accessibility features: Wheelchair-friendly venue; we're actively renting wheelchairs for the day (let us know if you need one. We've got you covered). ASL interpretation throughout, including a special ASL story from Lasha Barbosa sharing why this Walk is so close to her and Christopher's hearts (with English interpretation by Christopher and speech-to-text app support for full accessibility and understanding).
This is YOUR space. Whether you're a survivor, caregiver, family member, friend, or someone who's never heard of brain tumours before. Come out to get educated, build connections, raise awareness, fund vital research, and help us fight to end brain tumours in Canada. Every step, every story, every donation makes a real difference!
