Accessibility Ireland are proud to present "Teaching inclusive design from day one". We are excited to invite and welcome you along to our upcoming live and in-person digital accessibility event with thanks to Morgan McKinley.

We are delighted to be joined by Laura Kalbag, Educational Content Creator at Penpot and author of Accessibility for Everyone and Co-founder of Small Technology Foundation.

Talk description: "Just like in design practice, accessibility is often bolted on as an afterthought in design education. But what if we made it fundamental from day one?

Over the last year, I’ve been creating a free UI Design course for Penpot with accessibility at its core. This work has made me rethink how we teach design and make accessibility the foundation of good design practice.

In this session, I’ll share what I’ve learned about weaving accessibility into design education from the ground up, and how I’m trying to make the course itself accessible to the widest possible audience.

Then let’s discuss the very gnarly topic: What are the real opportunities and barriers to making such a visual design practice inclusive?"

Tickets are free and strictly limited to one per person.

This event is capped at 80 guests in person, however, due to no-shows, we do over allocate tickets.

Doors will open at 5:45pm with talks starting at 6:30pm sharp. We will end by 8:30pm.
