More than 800 people with and without disabilities have attended intensive DanceAbility Teacher Certification courses in various countries around the world since 1996. Those trained in the DanceAbility Method have continued to develop and expand inclusive dance communities around the world. DanceAbility Teacher Certification is for people who want to teach integrated groups in dance, improvisation, movement arts, or learn a model for facilitating communities that foster inclusive participation. The course covers well-defined methods and techniques for teaching, but there is not a stagnant set of rules. Rather, it is an approach to designing movement practices that allows anybody's movement to emerge, thereby facilitating individual and group expression. This course will prepare participants to teach DanceAbility classes for any population, to create mixed-abilities choreography, to provide leadership and development skills that enable participants to create organizations in their own communities, and serves as a pre-requisite for the Master Teacher and Master Trainer Courses.
An extensive DanceAbility Manual is provided with the 120 exercises studied during the Course, with detailed descriptions of each exercise. You will also receive the 200-page original DanceAbility Manual containing the history, philosophy, and many exercises not taught in the training.
