About this Event
Tea is a moment of connection. It's all five senses. It's warmth in your hands. Join us at Reset's Retreat Centre for an afternoon of tea paired with open-ended prompts—for writing, art, or any creative medium that's brewing inside you.
We'll explore the stories of tea: where it comes from, and how it's changed along the way. We'll explore how tea’s colonial history intertwines with our many histories, and where we are today. And then we'll dream beyond, to create and cultivate warm stories of our own—together.
No experience required; only curiosity. Tea is filled with stories, and so are you.
Paper, writing/drawing supplies, and ample tea will be provided
(You are also welcome to bring a notebook and supplies of your own)About the Facilitator
Zen Alladina is a writer and tea sommelier living on the land known as t’karonto|Toronto, Canada. Her work centers healing and speculative re-imagination—from the personal to the post-colonial. She is the 2022 winner of Art Bar Poetry's Discovery Night, and her writing is published (or is forthcoming) in Solarpunk Magazine, Asian American Writers’ Workshop’s ‘The Margins,’ and ‘6City Poetry: Season One.’ When she isn't lost in words, she’s likely lost in the woods.

About the space

This experience is hosted at Reset's Retreat Centre. The Centre is a phone-free, work-free pilot program for people to just play.

The Centre is located on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and we recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and the Inuit peoples.

The main floor is accessible for those who use mobility devices, however we do not have automated doors. There is a basement, which is not physically accessible. The space is scent-free with the exception of essential oils. You are provided with a personal locker and lock to store your belongings, phone and shoes. Free tea is provided and there are water stations on site. Alcohol is not permitted in the space due to insurance reasons. See below for more info/links regarding safety protocols and the space.

Learn more about who we are, our values and our vision to just play.

Reset strives to be an inclusive space and we believe that collective joy requires justice.

This means some of the factors we have considered when creating this experience include collective liberation, safety, care, identities, Indigenous sovereignty and self determination, ecology, equity, power, inclusion, physical accessibility, financial accessibility, ancestry, climate, introversion, extraversion, trauma, all the -isms and some parts of the neurodivergence spectrum. We are not experts in any of these realms and are always open to learning how we can better cultivate a space and culture that fosters a sense of welcome and belonging. Please reach out with your feedback on this or anything else shared above.
