About this Event
We invite you to join our creative textiles workshop to make a square to be included in the memory quilt naming and honouring the children killed in Gaza. During this workshop you will design and make a decorative square in remembrance of an individual child using the beautiful and versatile techniques of appliqué, fabric collage and embroidery. No previous experience is needed, and all guidance and materials are provided.
Completed squares will be stitched together to create into new panels of the quilt alongside those created by other artists, crafters and creatives from across the UK and internationally.
The workshop will be delivered by Nina Jamet, Nina has long had a passion for textiles and creative expression. After studying fashion and teaching art in secondary schools, she began exploring handcrafts in her own time, finding meaning in making. Nina has so far made six squares for the Each Child a Light remembrance quilt. Contributing to the quilt has been a deeply emotional experience, uniting her love of fabric with a desire to remember and honour the children of Gaza.
NOTE: In return for being able to fund our vibrant exhibitions and events, we must charge a ticket price to help offset some of the gallery running and overhead expenses.
