About this Event

You are invited to a free taster session of the London Phoenix Choir (LPC), with musical director Jeremy Haneman and accompanist Will Gardner.

LPC (www.londonphoenixchoir.org) believes that singing should be accessible and enjoyed by all. We invite anyone, whatever their musical background or ability, to experience the joy that singing and performing can bring, in a friendly and supportive environment.

• No previous singing experience is required

• There are no auditions

• There is no requirement to sing solo or to read music

Who we are

London Phoenix Choir was created in July 2022 by members of the English National Opera Community Chorus (ENOCC). Members come from all walks of life and range from complete novices to experienced performers.

We are very friendly, open and supportive, committed to sharing our passion for this wonderful and diverse art. Singing and performing together is at the heart of the choir.

We sing a diverse repertoire, from pop to opera. This has included, for example, Proud Mary, Some Enchanted Evening, Te Deum, Habanera and Pokerface.

Jeremy Haneman (https://jeremyhaneman.com/)and Will Gardner (www.will-gardner.com) inspire and support us with tips and techniques to grow our abilities and confidence, while having fun along the way.

As well as music scores members also have access to rehearsal tracks for individual voice parts of the material we are singing.

The Choir performs at the end of each term. We also seek opportunities to perform at events and festivals. These have included the Festival of Choirs at the Tower of London and the Brandenburg Choral Festival (with sister choirs). Last Christmas we also performed in joint concert at St Giles, Cripplegate and sang pre-show carols at Rudolf Steiner House, near Baker Street, where we rehearse.

As a member of ENO Engage, the choir is offered free tickets for various ENO dress rehearsals, productions and workshops.

The last time I sang in a choir I was at school. At London Phoenix Choir it is great to be around people who love to sing and who are so welcoming and friendly
