In this class, we will explore the symbolic foundations that underlie the minor arcana of a tarot deck. Together we will examine how recurring patterns within numbers, elemental qualities, and visual motif create meaning across the cards in each of the different suits. Rather than focusing on memorizing individual definitions, this approach teaches you how to read the imagery itself, allowing the cards to unfold more organically in your interpretations. If you practice, you can even use these skills to read a simple deck of playing cards!

Through guided discussion and partnered practice readings, participants will begin to see how tarot functions as a visual languageone that can be approached analytically, intuitively, or through a synthesis. Students will learn how to recognize patterns, interpret visual details within the cards, and understand how symbolism and numberology shape the narrative of a spread.
