DIEGO AMORIN stands as one of
the most playful and teasing dancers of
the contemporary tango scene. He has
explored tango potentiality from distinct
angles developing an extremely versatile
scenic production.
With great personality he has
achieved a unique style by appealing to
the provocative use of theater and dance
elements as well as for his direct
interaction with legendary “milongueros”
from whom he learnt directly the essence
of argentine tango and its secrets.
Diego is co creator of La Evasion
Tango, a mythic show of contemporary
tango scene.
He has danced at Kremlin’s
theater at Moscu; together with Hubbard
Street Dance Chicago, at the Festival

place in the final of the 1o and 2o world
tango championship
Inheriting an acting tradition handed
down from generation to generation, he
discovered tango in 1994 from the hands
of his father, founder of the Negracha
Tango Club, in the legendary
neighborhood of San Telmo. There,
guided by the milongueros, he learned
the rudiments of popular dance, revealing
innate aptitudes for dancing.
Between 1996 and 1999 he
studied contemporary dance, José Limón
technique, at the Talleres de Coyoacán,
Mexico. He performed, together with the
National Dance Company of Mexico, the
show Tiempos de Tango. Diego worked
alongside Jorge Bartolucci, a pioneer of
tango in Mexico, and worked
professionally for four years alongside
the most prominent artists on the local
scene.
In the year 2000 he participated in
Tango Danza under the direction of
Andrea Missé and Leandro Palou, a
show that is presented in Chicago,
Aspen, Santa Fe and Cleveland, among
other cities in the USA, making a
presentation with Hubbard Street Dance
Chicago.
Among his most important
teachers, Jorge Bartolucci, Néstor Ray,
Pupy Castello, El “Turco” José and Nito
Garcia should be mentioned.
Diego also has a degree in
cultural Anthropology from the University
of Mexico, and since 2016 works also as
a Producer and Cultural Manager of the
Tango Area at the D.N.F.C. of the Ministry
