The contemporary tango scene cannot overlook the name Diego “Dipi” Kvitko, whether as a guitarist, composer, arranger, or educator. His artistry, while respecting tradition, is driven by a creative vocation always eager to challenge convention.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1975, at a time when tango was experiencing a decline in mass popularity, his early inclination toward Argentine music seems to have planted the seeds for navigating the tango world with both an aesthetic revival and the resilience needed to overcome industry setbacks.
A graduate and teacher at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda, Kvitko developed a close relationship with Aníbal Arias, a master guitarist and member of the renowned Aníbal Troilo quartet. Known affectionately as "Dipi," he studied under Arias and spent over a decade performing in his mentor’s guitar quartet.
His extensive solo and collaborative works intersect with a range of notable names, including Jorge Vidal, Leopoldo Federico, Jairo, Víctor Lavallén, Peteco Carabajal, Walter “Chino” Laborde, Rudi Flores, Sandra Luna, José Ángel Trelles, Ricardo “Chiqui” Pereyra, Walter Romero, Omar Mollo, Daniel Melingo, Hugo Rivas, and Abel Córdoba, among many others. And the story continues…
