About this Event
Tampa Bay World Aids Day Weekend
Come join us for a weekend in Tampa as we raise awareness and support for World Aids Day! This in-person event will feature educational sessions, community outreach programs, and opportunities to connect with others. Let's come together to show our solidarity and make a difference. Mark your calendars for this important event!
This year we will be recognizing World AIDS Day with multiple events. More than a time to mourn those we have lost but an opportunity to celebrate those who are living with and thriving with HIV. Although WAD is 12/01/2024, we will be honoring the day 12/05-12/08/2024.
Festivities will kick off at 7th and Grove on 12/05 from 6-9 pm. We will have a slew of live performances, tributes, trivia, education, testimonials, and community award recognitions. Attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy the ambiance and cuisine of the nationally recognized “7th and Grove” Restaurant and lounge which has become a staple in the Tampa Bay area.
On 12/06, all of the organizations will be coming together for our “Paint the Town Red” Community Bar Crawl on 7th Avenue in Historic Ybor City. Ybor City is the heartbeat of the city. This area can have hundreds to thousands of people at any given point. We will be connecting with the local vendors in this one-of-a-kind community outreach event. All participating local vendors and community partners will wear and encourage their guests to do so on that day. The infamous Bradley’s will be our headquarters which is a high-volume LGBT venue in the heart of Ybor City. There will be opportunities for testing and education at various locations along 7th Ave. The goal is to bring more awareness, encourage the community to know their status, and have the resources to know where to go for help.
12/07 We will be connecting with the “Rolling Proud Run Club, Inc.” for an opportunity to bring more awareness and education to HIV. We will be bringing the community together for our First “Red Run for the Cure” event. Individuals will be encouraged to wear red and run at a pace that works for them. There will also be opportunities for education and outreach, as well as testing.
Later that evening will be the 2nd annual “Code Red Affair” which will be the signature event in recognition of World AIDS Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear the best semi-formal red attire for an evening of recognition, storytelling, education, and the recognition of the gains that have occurred in the fight against new HIV infections. Guests will get to enjoy live performances while they network and learn more about the strides in our community. Key note speaker……
On 12/08 We will be connecting with the faith-based community to have a special service to present information on where we are in the fight against HIV in efforts to combat stig
