About this Event
Is your child a teen, or a pre-teen approaching their teen years?
Would you like to be prepared?
Would you like to find out more about how the brain is developing during the teen years and what you can do to help?
Do you struggle to cope with your teenager’s changing moods?
Would you like to learn how to help the teenage years become less of a battlefield?
These are challenging questions, and we know that parents are keen to understand how the adolescent brain develops and what they can do to support their children during this time and deal with the tricky behaviour that they might see.
"Talking Teens: from child to adult" is a popular, two hour workshop that addresses these questions for parents and carers of all children from Year 7 at Ipswich School.
Parents are encouraged to engage with the material, ask questions and challenge themselves to recognise when situations can be tackled more positively.
You will learn about:
- The Teen Brain: Understanding why teenagers take risks and want to experiment
- Recognising the physical, emotional changes and behavioural changes during adolescence.
- Why arguments escalate and how to stop this happening
- How to negotiate during a conflict situation
Parents will leave with the skills to apply this understanding within their families. The workshop will take place online using Zoom, will incorporate a Q&A session at the end of the session and there will be a comfort break midway.
Previous attendees have said:
"Thank you so much for a fantastic session just now. Your style of presentation made for the most engaging online course I have encountered. The content was engaging and useful - all round, a brilliant workshop!"
“So useful to have a clear framework that is simple and easy to apply”.
“It has really made me think about what it is like for my son and why he doesn’t always want to answer my questions. I will definitely try this new approach!”
Please note that the payment is due on completion of this registration and is non-refundable, regardless of attendance.
We offer a limited number of subsidised places for parents/carers in receipt of Universal Credit or for those families in receipt of free school meals or Pupil Premium.
