Connection, Compassion & the Ways We Give and Receive Care
(Relational awareness, heart-centered connection, community wisdom)
Connection is something we all seek—yet the ways we give and receive care are not always the same. What feels like love to one person may not land the same for another. Inspired by the book The Five Love Languages by The Five Love Languages, this Talking Circle explores how words, time, touch, acts of service, and giving shape the way we connect.
From a psychological perspective, these patterns are often rooted in early experience and attachment. From an Indigenous-informed lens, love is something we practice—through presence, reciprocity, listening, and care within community. Together, these perspectives invite us to see love not just as a feeling, but as a way of being in relationship.
We will also gently explore how altered or non-ordinary states of consciousness—through deep presence, reflection, breath, or expanded awareness—can help us remember our capacity for compassion, forgiveness, and understanding, softening the heart and opening space for new ways of relating.

- The five love languages and how they show up in daily life
- How early experiences shape the way we give and receive care
- Miscommunication and how to bring more clarity into relationships
- Love as a lived practice through presence and intention
- Remembering compassion and forgiveness through expanded awareness
- The role of community reflection in deepening relational wisdom
This gathering offers a warm, heart-centered space to reflect, share, and learn together—honoring that love is not only something we feel, but something we practice in relationship with ourselves and others.
