In celebration of Earth Month, the ASU Book Group's April 2026 reading selection is “Climate Imagination: Dispatches from Hopeful Futures,” edited by Center for Science and the Imagination Managing Editor Joey Eschrich, also an ASU alum (BA film and media studies ’08; MA gender studies ’11) and Director Ed Finn, an associate professor in the GAME School and the School for the Future of Innovation in Society. The book group is open to all in the ASU community and meets monthly this spring from noon to 1 p.m.
Haven't read the book? Come anyway! Authors are always present.
Synopsis: Instead of gloom and doom, “Climate Imagination” seeks to inspire a wave of narratives about what positive climate futures might look like for communities around the world. The book features perspectives from writers, artists, researchers and advocates based in a diverse range of places, each with their own unique opportunities and challenges for climate action: from China to Wales, Germany to Nigeria, Sri Lanka to Mexico, Malaysia, India, Brazil, the United States, and more.
The book is free to access on the MIT Press website.
The ASU Book Group is sponsored as a community outreach initiative hosted in partnership between the Department of English and ASU Library.
