A talk to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Monkland & Kirkintilloch, Scotland's first modern railway.About this Event
A talk on this historically significant railway by Don Martin MBE, local historian and author. Don has researched the history of this railway for many years and is the author of two previous books on the subject. This event will also serve as the launch of a new book of Don's own photographs from the 1960s of the Monkland & Kirkintilloch line.
The talk accompanies the exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum titled ‘Monkland & Kirkintilloch - Scotland’s First Modern Railway’, which runs from Saturday 21 March – Wednesday 20 May 2026 (opening hours are Tues-Sat 10am-5pm, closed 1-2pm).
