About this Event
Join Don Martin MBE for a guided walk along the northern part of the route of the Monkland & Kirkintilloch Railway. The railway opened in 1826 and was Scotland's first modern railway.
This event accompanies the exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum titled ‘Monkland & Kirkintilloch - Scotland’s First Modern Railway’ which runs from 21 March to 20 May (open Tues to Sat 10am-5pm, closed 1-2pm).
Walk details:
The meeting point is at Southbank Marina, Kirkintilloch.
The walk will start at Southbank Marina and finish at Whitegates. It will take around 1 hour to complete, with three main stops at points of interest associated with the railway.
Numbers are limited and booking is essential.
Please dress appropriately for an outdoor walk and the weather.
