About this Event
Join us for a conversation between Philadelphia based artists Isaac Tin Wei Lin and Andrew Jeffrey Wright marking the close of Isaac Tin Wei Lin: Interwined Infinities a solo exhibition featuring paintings on paper, panel, and canvas; and drawings on paper and photographs.
Isaac Tin Wei Lin explores the realm where representation and buzzing abstraction meet. His surfaces are often densely covered in calligraphic, brushed and hand-drawn patterns that express both the logic and complexity of written language. Working across painting, screenprinting, collage, installation, and mural-making, Lin also collaborates with other artists, including Andrew Jeffrey Wright, in creating hybrid works. In addition to solo exhibitions at Temple Contemporary, the Asian Arts Initiative, and the Print Center, among other venues, Lin has been commissioned to paint several large-scale murals, including three through Mural Arts Philadelphia; a multi-story stairway mural for Facebook's headquarters in San Francisco; and a thirteen-story mural in Heerlen, the Netherlands, commissioned by Stichting Street Art Foundation.
Andrew Jeffrey Wright is a multidisciplinary artist working across drawing, comics, painting, murals, photography, animation, screen printing, zine making, installation, and performance. He has been interested in patterns throughout his career, making abstract work reminscent of Op Art, as well as pop culture characters like E.T., Garfield, and Bart Simpson. Humor is a unifying component across the varied work Wright makes. Wright has also always championed the dissemination and accessibility of his art through t-shirts, buttons, and calendars (Labs with Abs, his screen printed calendar of anthropomorphic Labradors looking buff has been a semi-annual project since 2006). Wright is a founding member of Space 1026.
