About this Event
Take Heart, Go Red!
Harbor House of Rochester presents ‘Take Heart, Go Red’ with an all-star panel of women changemakers recognizing American Heart Month and focusing on Women’s Heart Health in a special awareness event on Sunday, February 22.
Since 1984. more women than men have died each year from heart disease; and the gap between men and women's survival continues to widen. Heart disease is the #1 Cause of Death in Women --more women have died from heart disease than all forms of cancer combined.
'Take Heart, Go Red' will feature noted Rochester-area clinicians, research scientists, patients and other heart health advocates in a first-of-its-kind colloquium and audience Q&A focusing on women’s contributions to the treatment and prevention of heart disease in women.
The panel will include keynote speaker Jennifer Hetsko, Dr. Janice Huang (moderator), AHA’s Woman of Impact finalist Melissa Gleason, RN and Dr. Valentina Kutyifa of URMC, with locally acclaimed runner and heart patient Sydney Pelusio. Dr. Mary Carey, Director of URMC’s Clinical Nursing Research will present a special talk on “Advancing the Care of Women from Heart Disease Through Nursing Research” and Dr. Linwei Wang from RIT’s award-winning computer science group will give an introductory presentation explaining how 'AI is transforming Heart Health Research.'
‘Take Heart, Go Red’ promises to be a memorable tour de force for heart health awareness, with compelling food for thought from many unique perspectives and experiences. Please join us for Take Heart and Go (Wear) Red on February 22!
