Taiji (Tai Chi) is a martial art that is widely practiced today for its range of health benefits. The slow gentle movements of Taiji offer a low impact exercise that can benefit any fitness level. The exercises not only help with managing pain, but improve balance, while also aiding in the function of internal organs. Classes will be taught by Dr. Angus Gray a doctor of Acupuncture and herbal medicine. Angus Brings over twenty years of experience training and studying taiji both for martial arts use and for the healing benefits. Angus broke his back at age 17 and had to take time off of the hard Kung Fu training, this gave Angus time to apply and learn more about using taiji for rehabilitation for his injury. Angus brings this experience and a decade of experience working with people using taiji for pain management and health improvement. Students can expect to go through a full body warm up, practice some qi gong and nei gong exercises. Students will progress through form work, learning application and engaging in light contact two person exercises. An emphasis will be placed on utilizing the exercises for practical mobility and health while preserving some of the fighting traditions of the art. More fighting application can be explored with interest. Tuition: $20 or sliding scale.
