About this Event
The turn of the 17th century saw sweeping changes in music, among them the rise of virtuoso instrumentalists, and music written for them in the “modern style.” The music featured unfettered improvisations, dramatic contrasts, and the passionate give-and-take of friends in musical conversation. We explore the concept of the “modern” in 300-year old music by Castello, Bertali, Leonarda, and others.
