Tackling the Housing Crisis in Woodingdean - Public Meeting
The event will take place on Thursday 28 May from 18:00 to 19:00 at Holy Cross Church on Downsway, BN2 6BD. It will feature speakers including
- Councillor Jacob Taylor, Deputy Leader of the council and Cabinet Member for Finance and Regeneration
- Councillor Gill Williams, Cabinet Member for Housing
- Councillors Jacob Allen and Jacqui Simon who represent Woodingdean.
The meeting will address the pressing issue of homelessness in the city, where around 3,500 people (1,400 of them children) are affected, and will explore the difficult decisions involved in tackling the crisis.
Organised in response to residents’ concerns, the session aims to discuss housing challenges and how our part of the city can contribute to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality homes.
Topics will include the council’s current actions to address the housing crisis, its asset portfolio strategy, and how specific local sites such as the Toby Inn, the derelict swimming pool, and Ash, Oak, and Beech Cottages could be used to support housing for those in need. There will be as much time as possible devoted to Q&A and sharing feedback.
