About this Event
ABOUT THE CUISINE
Syrian cuisine is known for its warmth, generosity, and rich tapestry of flavours that reflect centuries of cultural exchange across the Middle East. Fragrant spices, fresh herbs, and vibrant vegetables come together in dishes that celebrate community and hospitality. From the creamy textures of tahini and hummus to the zesty freshness of fattoush and the comforting layers of stuffed vegetables, Syrian food is both nourishing and full of heart. It’s food made to be shared — a joyful expression of love, home, and tradition.
ABOUT THE CHEF A message from Chef Randa:
"My name is Randa. I was born in Syria but grew up on the coast of Brazil. My parents moved to Brazil when I was two years old.
I arrived in the UK in 2019 to begin a new life with my children. I lived half my life in Lebanon. I was a physical education teacher in Lebanon and I had been a professional swimmer and surfer in Brazil.
I have five children and I can speak five languages - Portuguese, Arabic, English and Spanish and even a little bit of French.
I am a passionate cook. I especially love confectionery. I actually have a degree in pastry and confectionery. I like the creativity, the design, the art and the skill involved.
I joined Migrateful hoping I can improve my cooking and presentation skills. I would really like to teach cooking, so Migrateful is the perfect place to learn how to do this.
I am a social person and I love to make people happy. I hope my cooking and my classes will make them happy!"

THE CLASS FORMAT
Our cookery classes are family-style - meaning everyone works together to prepare the dishes as a team.
While you’ll be asked to choose one dish to focus on, you’ll have the opportunity to move around the kitchen, help with other dishes, and learn from each recipe. It’s a fun, social, and collaborative way to cook! At the end of the class, you’ll sit down with the chef, class facilitator and volunteers to enjoy the delicious meal you’ve created together.
