Join us for a work-in-progress showing of Lisa Jamhoury's sync : mirror, an interactive installation exploring the potential for human connection in networked, virtual space.
As collective attention increasingly turns to the human-AI relationship, sync : mirror re-visits a decades-long tradition in telematic performance examining how communications technology can extend human-to-human collaboration.
sync : mirror uses a revamped version of the open source tool, Kinectron, tracking two people’s movement on either side of a screen. As they move, their pixels overlap and separate, constructing a living map of their hybrid fascia—physical and digital connective tissue reminding us of the power of shared, embodied experience.
Lisa will run a preliminary day of play tests on Wednesday, October 22 at Onassis ONX with the prototype. As a playtester, you will move and interact with this new program, exploring choreographic possibilities and fine-tuning the experience for future public performances. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development of a new technology alongside other artists, technologists, researchers, and humans curious about our embodied futures. No movement background is required.
This will be the first opportunity to interact with this installation prototype, which is not yet publicly available. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver and will be recorded.
