About this Event
Thursday 23 April 10 am - 1pm
Lord Mayor's Reception Room, Southampton Civic Centre
I am very pleased to be able to invite you to a symposium on improving education, training and employment outcomes for care leavers in Southampton.
Young people who leave local authority care have often experienced immense disruption as children. In our city, we have a firm commitment to helping them have happy and fulfilling lives as adults. Opportunities to work and progress are very much part of that.
As a local leader in the business and/or employment sectors, it would be fantastic to meet you and for you to hear:
- A welcome from me, as Cabinet Member for Children and Learning and also the Lord Mayor, Councillor James Baillie.
- An overview of our growth and regeneration aspirations from Stephen Haynes, Executive Director for Growth and Prosperity.
- Ways that we support young people into employment and training through our Economic Development and Regeneration Team
You will also get to meet some of our young people to hear from them about their stories and successes.
We'd like your views on how we can increase opportunities for care leavers in Southampton
Refreshments will be provided by Opportunity Brews cafe, staffed by young people who are supported by Southampton Children and Learning Service.
Please accept your space by completing the Eventbrite form, forwarding it on to the HR lead for your organisation if appropriate.
If you have any questions, please email: [email protected].
