Sylvie Noble and Jazz Café POSK present: Next Generation Jazz!
Tonight: The Music of Betty Carter!
Kicking off her “Next Generation Jazz” series at Jazz Café POSK, Sylvie Noble brings a
band of London’s finest young jazz musicians to play the fiercely swinging music of jazz
vocal titan, Betty Carter.

Based in London, vocalist and composer Sylvie Noble pulls from eclectic influences across the musical spectrum, combining jazz and folk to create an entirely unique sound. Her debut album ‘New Eve’, a voice and bass duo collaboration with 2024 BBC Young Jazz Musician winner Ursula Harrison, is due for release in spring 2026. A finalist of the 2025 Tina May Young Jazz Musician competition, she combines dynamic and exploratory improvisation with evocative and soulful melodies, pushing the boundaries of genre.

Graduating from Leeds Conservatoire in 2023, Olivia Cuttill is now playing with her quintet, and other bands such as Mangorata, Ferg's Imaginary Big Band and Sunkissed Child. Her album 'The Whole Damn Plan',came out in January 2024. Olivia is known for her story telling songs, swinging solos and beautiful blues.
Thomas Sladden is a 21-year-old pianist, composer and arranger, currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He has performed several times as part of the London Jazz Festival and at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The Vortex and Milton Court Concert Hall as well as the Wiltshire Music Centre. His influences include Geri Allen, Fred Hersch, Shirley Horn and Thelonius Monk.
Ben Boardman is a jazz bassist and composer based in London, UK. Originally from Vancouver Canada, Ben spent five years in Montreal where he studied at McGill University and worked as a sideman for Caity Gyorgy, Nick Semenykhin, and Bryn Roberts; playing shows across Canada. Since moving to the UK, Ben has played at Ronnie Scott’s with Phil Meadows ‘Future Movers’ and recently lead a group of Royal Academy of Music students performing at Windsor Castle for the German state visit to the UK.
Finn Genockey is a jazz drummer, composer and bandleader based in London. Tacet Trust, his debut album, was released on Fresh Sound New Talent in 2025. Featuring Josh Short, Rasmus Sørensen and Nico Klöffer, the music has been described by UK Jazz News as “a debut album that will surely be hailed as a classic and a milestone in the ongoing development of contemporary jazz “.
