you always wanted that iconic Sydney photo – re-imagined in colour, motion and

shadow?

About this event

Join Brett Atkins from Nikon Australia for a hands-on, after-dark photo walk through one of

Sydney’s most photogenic stretches – from Circular Quay across to the Opera House and

Harbour Bridge. Brett is known for his approachable teaching style and deep technical

knowledge, and he’ll be on the ground with you the whole evening.

This three-hour walk will have you shooting magical Sydney icons as they transform and

come alive after sunset. You’ll discover and explore the post-card-worthy areas of this

beautiful city backdrop while you learn how to dial in your camera settings, choose the right

focal length, and develop your compositional eye to capture the city in all its light and colour.

Whether you bring a mirrorless or DSLR camera, this is the ultimate excursion into the

techniques behind night cityscapes – harnessing maximum available light, mastering long

exposures, blue-hour-to-blue-hour pacing, and creating images that feel uniquely yours.

Featured camera: Nikon Z5II

Nightscape work is where the Z5II earns its keep. Brett will be shooting alongside you with

the Z5II and walking through how its full-frame, low-light-first design changes what you can

capture handheld at Circular Quay after dark.

Recently named Best Advanced Mirrorless Camera at the TIPA World Awards 2026, the Z5II

has been recognised by photography press worldwide as the standout choice in its class –

and this is your chance to see exactly why on the streets of Sydney.

Why the Z5II for nightscapes

• TIPA World Awards 2026 winner – Best Advanced Mirrorless Camera

• 24.5MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor paired with the same EXPEED 7 processor

used in the flagship Z8 and Z9 – cleaner files, faster response, smarter AF.

• Autofocus that locks on down to –10 EV with Starlight View – you can compose on a

near-dark ferry wharf and still confirm focus through the viewfinder.

• Native ISO 100–64,000, expandable to 50–204,800, with usable detail well past

where most kit cameras give up.

• Up to 7.5 stops of in-body image stabilisation – hand-hold longer exposures of

moving water, light trails and skyline reflections without lugging extra gear.

• Subject-detection AF for people, animals and vehicles – useful when a passing ferry

or a passer-by becomes your foreground.

• Pre-Release Capture, Pixel Shift and a dedicated Picture Control button for fast

creative looks straight out of camera.

Try it on the night

A limited number of Z5II loaner bodies will be available on a first-come basis for attendees

who want to shoot side-by-side with Brett during the walk. Bring your favourite Z-mount lens

or borrow one of ours for the session. Special pricing on the Z5II body and kit lenses will be

available to attendees on the night and for 7 days after the event.
