About this Event

Swindon has been longlisted for the chance to be awarded the prestigious title of UK City of Culture 2029 - along with a £10million grant to deliver an unforgettable year of events and activities celebrating Swindon's innovative, can-do spirit.

This event is open to all Swindon-based artists, creative practioners and representatives of arts, creative, cultural and heritage organisations.

Swindon Culture Collective Network has a which all members and attendees are expected to uphold.

This is your opportunity to join the conversation and help shape the bid by sharing your ideas, knowledge and dreams for Swindon’s future.

We will be asking you to help feed into key aspects of the bid through a series of collaborative workshops sessions.

There's lots to cover so this will be a full day event, but we appreciate not everyone can give up a whole day to join us. Please sign up for a half-day spots if you can only join us for the morning or afternoon session so that we can plan accordingly.

Swindon has always been a place where people build the future - from the railways and radical ideas of the past to the innovation, creativity and ambition shaping our town today. Now, we want to imagine what comes next together.

That’s the vision for Swindon’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2029 - ‘A Town That Dreams in Public’, which invites everyone to dare to dream of bold, ambitious possible futures for Swindon, the country and the world.

Swindon2029 will give us an opportunity to explore ideas, test decisions and strengthen opportunities across every area of the borough. We'll explore five challenges, linked to Swindon’s innovative can-do spirit: democratic futures; young people leading change; humans and technology; climate imagination; and collective storytelling and identity.

As well as creating big moments to showcase Swindon in a bold way, we want to enable a whole year of hyperlocal activities in communities across the whole borough.
