Seeking a tasty treat? Want to grab some free seeds and gardening supplies? Swing by on June 11 to help us fundraise for Lavender Market!
About this Event

Crafts, sweets + treats, and free seeds/plants... what could be better? 🌱🌸✂️🍮
We'll be at Nonbinarian June 11th 6-10pm, fundraising for our FREE lesbian popup market series, Lavender Market. Lavender Market is a recurring lesbian market series free to all, both vendors (no tabling fees!) and attendees (no ticketed entry!). But in order to keep it free, we need help covering our hosting expenses... So come pick up a sweet treat, create your own tea blend, and take home a brand new handpainted plant pot, all while helping us raise money for more FREE lesbian community events!

The Crafts:
Make Your Own Tea Blend!

Customize your cup and create your very own tea blend from our selection of various dried tea leaves, herbs, and fruits! We will provide a spread of ingredients to create your blend, sachets to fill with said blend, tags to label and decorate, as well as small mixing bowls/spoons to use as you work. Tickets for this craft are $5 for three bags, and an additional $1 for any extra tea bags you wish to make. :)

Paint a Pot, Plant a Seed!

Upcycle your very own plant pot to create a beautiful home for your new seeds! BYO clean used can/jar/container of some sort, or come pick out one of ours to decorate. We will have paints, markers, glue, ribbon, and other decor for you to add onto your container, before moving to our “potting station” outside! You can fill your brand new pot with potting soil and some seeds before taking it home. All that’s left to do is find a sunny spot at home, and watch your little new friend do its thing. :) Tickets for this craft are sliding scale/pay what you can, $5-10 encouraged. <3

The Swaps:
Plant/Seed Swap!

We have tons of seeds leftover from our swap at the previous Lavender Market, and will be bringing them for this event! There is no cost to participate, just bring something to trade. :) We will have various seeds/plants available and encourage similar offerings, but are also open to other items under the gardening umbrella like shovels/trowels/spades, small SEALED bags of fertilizer/potting soil, plant trimmings, watering cans, flower pots, water trays, plant ties, shears, or any other gardening tool. If it can be used for gardening and you think somebody else can get use out of it, bring it to the swap! <3

Mask Swap!

We will also be hosting a mask/PPE swap! Have a box of masks you purchased that didn't end up fitting? Bring them to swap out for some that do fit! You can bring any unused masks/respirators, gloves, nasal spray, mouthwash, tests, safety goggles, air purifiers/finters, and info zines... and trade them for something new! Please do not bring used medical supplies.

Is this event free?

It is indeed! There is no cost barrier to this event. :) We do require RSVPs, but those are free with an option to add a donation or crafting ticket. All crafts will require tickets, which can be purchased in advance or day-of. We will also be selling some treats at our bake sale table! All funds will go directly towards covering Lavender Market expenses.

Accessibility

High-filtration masks/respirators (KN95 or better) will be required and provided for all attendees. We will have an air purifier on site!

If you are feeling sick (even if you don’t think it’s COVID), have recently been exposed, or in a high-risk situation, we ask that you please stay home! This is how we keep each other safe.

The event will be at The Nonbinarian Bookstore, 1130 President St, off the 2/3/4/5 trains and B44/B43/B48/B49 busses. Nonbinarian has a small step to get into the building. Unfortunately they do not have a ramp for wheelchair access yet, but we will have a folding table outside featuring some of the books available for swapping!
