We walk down Sutton Wood before crossing Telford Golf Course onto The Monarch's Way, part of the route King Charles 11 fled through to escape Cromwell's forces. The King must have really struggled along the way in the dark as it goes through narrow, steep, muddy woodland paths. We then join the Silkin Way which passes under the Great Hay Incline used for hauling tug boats.
This leads onto Madeley where we will also see the old barn the King hid in, before we return past the back of Blists Hill Museum, to Sutton Centre.
