📢 EVENT: Surrey ACORN All-Chapter Meeting – Fight Back for Our Homes! There is A LOT happening in our community right now. If we don't stand up, who will? If we don’t show up to organize, the big corporations and developers win. We have a packed agenda for Thursday’s meeting—don't miss it!
🔍 THE AGENDA:
⛽ THE FORTIS GAS SUBSIDY: Why are we paying higher rates to subsidize a massive gas facility in Delta? We’re fighting back against the $3.5 billion expansion and demanding a "fairness review" so local families aren't footing the bill for industrial exports!
🏢 SURREY IS DEMOVICTION CITY: The city is rubber-stamping our evictions while unaffordable condos go up. We need to make sure every British Columbian knows: they are mass-evicting tenants, destroying communities, and NOT compensating us fairly. We deserve safe, well-maintained homes—not a "renoviction" notice!
🗳️ FAIR ELECTIONS: We are pushing to end "at-large" elections. It’s time for a Ward System so our local government actually represents our neighborhoods, not just developer interests.
📉 STOP THE HOUSING CUTS: The Province is cutting back on affordable housing targets (down to 2,500 homes from 4,500) right when we need it most. We’re fighting for the funding our community was promised.
