Description of Presentation

This presentation provides an introductory overview of Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) including a description of the main types of flowlines and pipelines and their methods of installation; rigid and flexible risers for shallow and deepwater applications; subsea umbilicals and types of subsea control systems. The presentation will also address the different types of subsea field configuration / layout and their application to development projects worldwide.

Presenter - Mr. Dem Demetriou BEng MSc DIC CMarEng CEng FIMarEst MBA FCMI APAEWE

Dem spent a year as a rocket scientist before joining the oil and gas industry in 1990. He specialises in subsea, pipeline & materials engineering, with a focus on conceptual and front-end studies. He is passionate about emerging technologies and the application of new methods of project execution.

Dem spent ten years with Genesis Oil & Gas Consultants where he managed high-value projects around the world at all stages of development. He also spent eight years with BG’s front-end group where he was involved with pathfinder subsea projects in Egypt, Tunisia and Trinidad.

Dem holds a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from Imperial College, London and an MBA from the University of Liverpool. He is accredited as a Subsea Engineer by the SUT and is a Fellow of both the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology and the Chartered Management Institute. He also holds the Legal Experience Training Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence (LETAPAEWE) accredited by Pearson Learning at a Level 7 (Masters level).
