Supporting Susto for Men: Regulating the Nervous System with Boxing Somatics
Facilitator: Coach Lee Torres
Date: Sunday, May 17
Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Location: Casa Ilumina
This month, Coach Lee Torres will be joining us to lead a workshop on Boxing Somatics.
Boxing Somatics uses boxing-inspired movements to foster a deep, conscious connection between the mind and body, supporting emotional regulation, mental resilience, and nervous system balance.
This space is designed for men to gently reconnect with their bodies while tending to susto—the deep impact of stress, shock, and heavy lived experiences that can linger within us. Through guided breath and slow, intentional movement, we create room to release, restore, and ground.
The speed, depth, and intensity of both breath and movement will be guided by what feels right for each participant in the moment. This practice is about building awareness and allowing energy to move through the body in a supported way.
No experience is required. All men, all bodies, and all levels are welcome. You are invited to show up as you are and move in ways that feel accessible to you.
What to bring:
- Water bottle
- Comfortable clothes to move
- Journal or notebook
- A personal item to add on the community altar (optional)
We look forward to seeing you all. Please bring a friend, your tio, abuelitos, mentor...
