This webinar is for clinicians who have an interest in developing their knowledge and skills around working with clients with a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile. This webinar will support you in building your understanding of the current evidence regarding PDA, as well as increasing your confidence in planning and delivering your sessions with PDAers. This webinar will be delivered by Caitlyn Cowie and Caitlin Smith, two of Kid Link’s Senior OT’s.
Learning Objectives:
- To understand what Pathological Demand Avoidance(PDA) is and the role of anxiety in PDA
- To understand different types of demands
- To explore current evidence and theory regarding PDA
- To be able to set functional, neurodiverse affirming goals for PDAers
- To increase your confidence in planning and delivering your sessions with PDAers
- To increase your confidence in advocating for your clients with a PDA profile
- To leave with a toolbox of practical strategies and resources to support you in your practice
- To explore a PDA informed approach through the use of a clinical case study

- 2.5 hour live webinar that includes relevant evidence, theory, practical strategies and resources for your sessions, exploration of a case study, and opportunities to apply your learning throughout.

- Handouts to use and share with your clients to facilitate implementation of strategies and recommendations in between your sessions.
Caitlyn Cowie
Caitlyn Cowie is an Occupational Therapist, graduating in 2016 from Monash University with Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours). Caitlyn has been with the Kid Link team since 2017, and is one of our Senior OT's. Caitlyn is endorsed by OT Australia to practice within the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Program. Caitlyn is an experienced presenter, developing and presenting on many topics to OT’s, families, and schools. Caitlyn supervises both Kid Link OT’s and external OT’s, oversees our student program, and manages a pediatric caseload between 4yo-18yo.
Caitlin Smith
Caitlin Smith is an occupational therapist, graduating in 2015 and has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice (La Trobe University). Caitlin is endorsed by OT Australia to practice within the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health program. Caitlin has been with Kid link since 2017 and is one of the teams senior OT’s. Caitlin has experience in developing and presenting on a range of topics for parents, carers, and school support staff. Additionally, Caitlin holds a paediatric caseload between 3yo-18yo, and provides supervision to some of Kid Link’s OT’s, as well as providing external supervision.
