Free and open meetings in EnglishWe warmly invite migrant and expat mums living in Iceland to join our support group for mothers in the first year after birth.
The group is especially meant for mums who are experiencing postpartum depression or suspect they might be — but every mum is welcome.
This is a safe and friendly space where you can:
🤍 talk about your feelings,
🤍 feel heard, understood and supported,
🤍 meet other mums who are going through similar experiences,
🤍 join with your baby — newborns and infants are welcome.
The group is open, and meetings will be held regularly.
Our first introductory & meet-and-greet session will take place on 13 December 2025 at 12:30 at Fæðingarheimili Reykjavíkur.
Regular bi-weekly meetings will begin in January.
We welcome every mum who needs conversation, connection, and support. Winter can be an especially challenging time when depressive symptoms may intensify. You do not need a diagnosis to join — just come and meet other mums.
Please note: this is not a therapy group — it is a space for peer support, education, and community.
Facilitator:
Paulina Kołtan-Janowska — doula, childbirth educator. She has lived in Iceland for 11 years and has been supporting immigrant families within the Icelandic perinatal care system for over 8 years. Paulina also has personal experience with postpartum depression, which allows her to support mothers with deep understanding and empathy.
This project is funded by Landssamtökin Geðhjálp.
