On Super Bowl weekend Bal Haus is bringing the spotlight to the dance floor with our own championship event. Introducing the Super Bal Workshop with Bobby White and Annabel Quisao, one of the most accomplished Balboa partnerships in the modern Balboa scene.Together, Bobby and Annabel have claimed every major Balboa title, including three CalBal Classic titles, three All Balboa Weekend ACBC Championships, the National Jitterbug Championships Balboa division, and the ILHC Balboa division. No other couple currently holds a triple crown at either CalBal or All Bal—a distinction that sets them apart on the world stage.
As instructors, Bobby and Annabel are known for their thoughtful, dancer-centered teaching and deep respect for swing movement. Their classes emphasize clear leading and following, individuality within partnership, and musical connection, combining technical drills, movement training, and body awareness to support meaningful, lasting growth.

***THE WORKSHOP***
Saturday Workshop (All levels)
Open to dancers of all levels with a foundation in Balboa or swing dance fundamentals. This track is best suited for those who are comfortable dancing all the basic Balboa figures at tempos of 180+ BPM and are ready to refine their skills.
Topics:
❖Bal-chitecture (2hrs)
Exploring how important shape can be to leading, following, creating, and play.
❖The Slow-ly Trinity (1hr)
Creating a foundation of footwork play using the dance's original blueprint.
❖The Pure Bal Experience (1hr)
Understanding the heart of Balboa Shuffle (aka Pure Bal), a unique swing dance in more ways than most realize.
Sunday Workshop (Int/Adv level)
Designed for experienced Balboa dancers with a solid repertoire of moves and styling that can be danced with a wide range of partners, including less experienced ones. Participants should be able to maintain flow and musicality at both high tempos (220+ BPM) and slow tempos (around 80 BPM for Slow Bal).
Please note that the Sunday workshop is by invitation only. If you don’t get an invitation by January 20 but feel ready, please send us an audition video of you dancing Balboa with a partner to a swing song of your choice at 220+ BPM. ([email protected])

Saturday: 4 hours (1–5 PM)
Sunday: 3 hours (1–4 PM)
Hours include breaks to rest, ask questions, get feedback, and practice with fellow attendees.

***ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS***
Bobby White
Bobby teaches traditional swing dances around the world and holds championship titles and placements in Balboa, Lindy Hop, and Solo Jazz. Across all styles, he strives to innovate and create a new voice while capturing the spirit of the original dancers. He is the author of the popular swing dance blog Swungover and the book Practice Swing. As a dancer, he is widely recognized for his floppy hair—and as a teacher, for his unmistakable sound effects.
Annabel Quisao
Annabel has been teaching Lindy Hop and Balboa around the world for over a decade and loves the communication and spontaneity of social dancing. She’s known for her huge grins and infectious laughter on the dance floor. In the classroom, she creates a fun and inspiring environment that honors the history of swing dances while encouraging students to explore their potential and embrace their individuality. She currently resides in Washington, DC, where she is a founding board member and Director of Education at New Columbia Swing, the city’s premier swing dance organization.
