Join us for an evening of captivating jazz, bossanova, and samba as the talented duo Venla Kling and Héctor Lepeperform live, accompanied by bassist Tuomo Purhonen.
Venla Kling, a jazz vocalist from Helsinki, brings a deep, soft tone to her interpretations of bossanova and jazz standards. A graduate of London’s Bachelor of Music program, Venla’s performances are known for their emotional depth and improvisational style. She has performed at renowned festivals and venues, including Pori Jazz, Umbria Jazz Festival, and Copenhagen’s La Fontaine and Montmartre jazz clubs.
Héctor Lepe, a Mexican jazz guitarist and composer based in Helsinki, blends traditional Brazilian styles with contemporary elements. With both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in jazz from the Sibelius Academy, Héctor has established himself as a versatile musician, performing with projects like Kadi Vija Trio and Aapo Heinonen Quintet.
Together, the duo presents fresh arrangements of bossanova and samba classics, such as Chega De Saudade (No More Blues), Desafinado, and One Note Samba, as well as beloved jazz standards.
Accompanying the duo is Tuomo Purhonen. A bassist currently completing his master’s degree at the Sibelius Academy, Tuomo has performed with ensembles like the Jimi Ahlroos Trio and Helmi Antila Quartet. His rhythmic talent and expressive style add depth and vibrancy to the performance.
