About this Event
California is one of the most dynamic wine regions in the world—where innovation, ambition, and remarkable landscapes shape wines of extraordinary range. In this class, Jonathan Ogden explores how California balances pioneering spirit with growing respect for place, revealing a region where groundbreaking winemaking and diverse terroirs coexist.
We’ll travel across California—from fog-cooled coastal vineyards to sun-soaked valleys and rugged inland hillsides—discovering how climate, geography, and modern vision shape its distinctive wine styles. You’ll learn key regions, iconic grapes, and how to understand California wine with confidence—without needing to memorize AVAs or technical jargon.
During this two-hour class, we’ll taste ten California wines, thoughtfully selected to illustrate the state’s remarkable diversity—from vibrant coastal whites and elegant Pinot Noir to the powerful Cabernets that helped define California’s global reputation. Class attendees will have access to preferred pricing on featured bottles following the tasting.
Please note: The Vintage on Harrison is not open on Sundays. The space will be open exclusively for this class. Light snacks will be provided; this is a tasting and educational experience rather than a full food service.
Expect great wines, clear explanations, and stories that connect what’s in the glass to California’s landscapes, people, and evolution.
Relaxed, educational, and designed to make California wine come alive.
