Gardening in Calgary isn’t necessarily just for the summer months. With passion, knowledge and ingenuity Calgary gardeners can have other garden seasons in the shoulder months, just as rewarding and perhaps even more so!
Learn strategies and techniques, plus more than just a few tips and tricks with Janet Melrose, Calgary’s Cottage Gardener in this workshop that will cover:
In this workshop, you’ll discover:
- Calgary’s growing season and factors that affect crops
- Choosing the right crops for your space
- Starting seedlings indoors and wintersowing
- Using season extenders like row covers, cold frames, and poly tunnels
Hands-on activities include:
- Wintersowing kale, Swiss chard, spinach, and lettuce
- Indoor sowing of tomatoes or squash
- Planting an early container garden
Grow smarter and make every season count!
This event will take place in the MAIN HALL at the Sunalta Community Hall. Please enter through the front door with the STAIRS.
