π΅ Tess Liautaud and Band
The music of Franco-American singer-songwriter Tess Liautaud hangs in the balance of her voice β warm like honey and carrying a depth of raw emotion, delivered with melodic grace and country soul.
Together with her band, Liautaud creates a sound steeped in classic folk'n'country and rock'n'roll, with easy listening songs that capture an Americana feel, reminiscent of Jackson Browne dreaming of Laurel Canyon. This is music that will grow roots in your heart and lift you up, the way it is supposed to.
βIt is warm and giving, open and true, devoid of pretension, gentle and full of heart. It sounds beautiful and everything is in its right place. A special balm for jolting times.'' - Adam McGrath
π΅ The Kay Duncan Band
The Kay Duncan Band delivers a vibrant and noteworthy performance, high in energy, intensity and fun. Discover original music that is smouldering with groovy, funky rhythms, interesting and sublime melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics.
Formed in 2022, the band was initially brought together by Kay to play at her debut album release concert but stayed together to become an exciting collaboration. The group β all professional, Christchurch-based musicians β were inspired by the opportunity to play originals in a band and have fun along the way. The refreshing diversity of the songs and mix of genres ignited an energy which has fuelled powerful creative inputs from every band member.
Band members are Kay Duncan (vocals and acoustic guitar), Guy Hobson (keyboard), Geoff Cox (bass), John Weir-Kincaid (drums), Rob Tate (lead guitar), and Ben Blackett (harmonica, keyboard and percussion).
π΅ The Wax Birds
Harmonious acoustic duo Wax Birds have resided in Oxford since they moved to New Zealand from Yorkshire, in the UK, back in 2016.
By the end of 2020 they had released βSlow Rise", a slightly jazz sounding album, recorded from their tiny house. Their sound has since taken on more of a folky Americana feel, which can be heard on the second album "Yellowhammer", released in March 2023.
In June 2023, they were invited down to Gore MLT Songwriting Awards for their song "CoParent", to play alongside nine other finalists. They continue to write music and hone their craft, with exciting new releases on the horizon.
