Summer months often result in blood shortages nationwide due to decreased donations and increased demand. Vacations and summer activities result in fewer donors just as trauma cases rise around summer holidays. Additionally, school closures during the summer mean fewer blood drives.Blood donations are critical for severe trauma and burn patients, especially at Medical City Plano's Level 1 Trauma Center, so we invite our community to donate blood and help save lives.
