Description
Immerse yourself in an evening of unforgettable food as you create some of the amazing recipes included in Chef, best-selling Author, and TV Host Marcus Samuelsson's cookbook. This collection highlights the diverse talents of Black chefs, writers, and activists and will introduce you to new combinations of familiar ingredients. Working with a small team, you'll create this meatless meal with some traditional recipes and others based on tradition: a blended dip that contains peanuts, peanut butter, coconut milk, and chiles served with fried, spice-coated plantains; pan-seared halibut with a sweet-tart glaze over coconut-infused rice grits; carrots roasted with orange and tossed with a spicy vinaigrette; and a simple, single layer, rum-soaked cake that will round out your meal.
One copy of The Rise: Black Cooks and the Soul of American Food by Marcus Samuelsson, an Eater Best Cookbook of Fall 2020, is included in the price of the class. Chef Samuelsson will not be in attendance during the class.
