Find creative community and create your own collection of mesmerizing marbled papers in our upcoming workshop at Vjosa Cafe in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

Sign up today for a night of relaxing artmaking and low pressure creativity. Guided by Kelly Laughlin, founder of Odette Press, you'll connect to creativity through ink, breath, paper, and water, and leave feeling inspired.

Suminagashi is the ancient, meditative Japanese art of paper marbling. Inspired by designs in nature, translating to "floating" or "spilled" ink, you'll learn this simple, awe-inspiring process and leave with a collection of papers great for framing, gifting, or adding art to your home.

This workshop is great for beginners, or anyone seeking a creative experience. Come alone, or save your spots with friends and make it a creative date night out.

Ticket includes all materials to make your collection of marbled papers and a tea or coffee drink from Vjosa Cafe.

The Flow:

Settle in to your table in the Vjosa Cafe event space. You'll be guided through a creative prompt to inspire your creativity, then be led through a short demonstration. The rest of the time is yours to go with the flow! This workshop is a low pressure, low social, highly inspiring time. Relax into the creative flow of the marbling process and create your collection of marbled designs.

You'll leave with:

A collection of one of a kind marbled papers
Ticket includes a 12oz drink from Vjosa Cafe

About your host:
Kelly Odette Laughlin is a Chicago-based artist, writer, facilitator, and creative guide and the founder of Odette Press. Her practice is an infusion of movement, ink, breath, paper, water and lyricism, drawing from a deep connection with the senses and the natural world. Kelly's workshops guide people back to their creativity and connection with nature. Her work brings together her backgrounds in printmaking, yoga, and meditation. Say hi on instagram @odettepress!
